After losing the inaugural event last year, a team of 12 Gearhart Golf Links members had extra motivation to compete in this year’s Clatsop Cup golf tournament, a recent two-day, 24-match event pitting members of Gearhart against members of the Astoria Golf & Country Club.

The Clatsop Cup was devised by host professionals Jason Bangild of Gearhart and John Kawasoe of the Astoria Golf & Country Club.

On Day 1, the teams played six FourBall (best ball) matches in the morning, and six foursomes (alternate shot) matches in the afternoon.

The teams lined up individually on Day 2 and played 12 singles matches.

When the dust settled, the Astoria members failed to score a single point, as Gearhart won the Cup and will keep possession of the title until the teams meet again next year.
