A happy farewell to all the Seaside High School seniors; facing off against Banks Monday, winning 8-0.
Waiting in the home dugout of Broadway Field, parents accepted kind words of thanks and a rose from their senior student athletes. Minutes later Seaside outed Banks, came to the plate and scored its first run.
Mark Thysell pleased the crowd hitting a three-run home run in the fourth. Seaside scored one run in the first three innings, and three runs in the fifth.
Pitcher Mitch DeGandi allowed only one run, a single in the second inning. DeGandi had 13 strikeouts and two walks.
Ross Knutsen was 2-for3 with three runs, Jon Gizdavich had two hits.
Late last week the Gulls faced Astoria, the league leaders who are currently on a winning streak. Seaside lost 8-1. Seaside had its only run in the bottom of the seventh when Will Beatty drove in Ross Knutsen.
