Seaside 2, Yamhill-Carlton 0WARRENTON - Two goals from Hazel Owens gave Seaside a 2-0 win over visiting Yamhill-Carlton Monday at the Warrenton Soccer Complex in nonleague girls soccer action.

Owens' first goal came on a solo shot from 25 yards out, then later she took a crossing pass from Micah Cerelli and scored her second goal.

Seaside hosts R.A. Long Wednesday.

R.A. Long 2, Astoria 1LONGVIEW, Wash. - Astoria played its best game in two years, said coach Norman Wentworth, but it was R.A. Long that walked off the field with a 2-1 win in a nonleague girls soccer match Monday.

"It was a great game - I really enjoyed it," Wentworth said. "Both teams played hard. I was very pleased with the play of Vanessa Baeten and Jennifer Keating, two of our seniors."

The Fishermen scored first, when Maia Fastabend dribbled through the R.A. Long defense and passed to Katrina Sentgeorge, who put a left-footed shot into the corner of the net for a 1-0 lead 32 minutes into the game.

R.A. Long responded with a pair of goals early in the second half, then held off Astoria for the remainder of the game.

"R.A. Long reminded me a lot of La Salle," said Wentworth, whose team lost to the Falcons last week, 8-1. "They're strong, fast, and they've got a very good sweeper and a great goalkeeper."

Astoria hosts Valley Catholic today.
