Yamhill-Carlton landed 11 players on the Cowapa All-League softball team, released this week.

Yamhill's Bree Larson was named Player of the Year and Yamhill's John Kuehnel was selected Coach of the Year.

Astoria had three players named to the first team, including senior Emily Burrell (first base), junior Alex Hillard (pitcher) and sophomore shortstop Elizabeth Coggins.

All six of the Cowapa League's starting shortstops were named All-League.

Seaside junior infielder Simone Giess and freshman shortstop Nana Pease (honorable mention) were the Gulls' two representatives.

With a .973 fielding percentage, Burrell was selected to take part in a high school All-Star series June 3 in Corvallis.

Coggins had an .881 fielding percentage and hit Astoria's only home run this yea. Hillard had a .500 on-base percentage, and as a pitcher struck out 94 batters in 94 innings, while opposing hitters had just a .097 batting average facing Hillard.
