UNION, Wash. - Eleven year-old Patrick Whealdon of Ilwaco, Wash., placed second at the Pacific Northwest Junior Golf Championship, held at Alderbrook Golf and Yacht Club July 16-17.

Invitations for the tournament were given to the top finishers at the Washington Junior Golf Association State Championship, held two weeks ago, and to the top finishers from Oregon who competed at the Peter Jacobson Junior Championship, held in June.

Whealdon, who plays out of Astoria Country Club, shot rounds of 82-78 -160, which was the top score from the Washington State Junior 8-11 year-olds.

Sulman Raza, from Emerald Valley in Eugene won this division with rounds of 80-75-155. Judd Ford from Whidbey Island took third by shooting 82-85-167.

The Astoria Country Club held its Junior Club championship last week, with Katie Cokley winning the girls' title with a 79, six strokes better than sister Marlie.

Seaside's Flynn Jiroudek shot a 78, edging David Burkhart (79).
