BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Two Ilwaco boys golfers have advanced to the second round after Day 1 of the Washington state tournament in Bellingham.

Ilwaco's Jack Whealdon is tied for the lead after 18 holes, following his even-par 72 Tuesday on the North Bellingham course.

Whealdon three-putted on his first hole and carded a 38 on the front nine, before recovering to post a two-under par 34 on the back.

Whealdon is tied with Kyle McPherson of Colfax, with three golfers tied at 73.

Todd Oakes (40-38-78) also advances, while Ilwaco's Tyler Johnson (88) and Tanner Bonnawitz (109) missed the cut.

Ilwaco's Kylie Lewis (106) missed the cut by one stroke on the girls' side.

Action continues today in Bellingham.
