TILLAMOOK - The Seaside boys junior varsity golf team took home the team title at the Tillamook Scramble Monday at Alderbrook Golf Course.

With a two-shot victory over host Tillamook, the Gulls concluded a season in which they were undefeated in dual matches and won both tournaments in which they were entered.

Seaside had a score of 155, which consisted of two out of three two-man team scores.

Tillamook finished with a 157, followed by Scappoose (169), Banks (178) and Astoria (182).

Seaside's duo of Donny Strite and Matt Peinhardt shot one-over par on the front side and finished the day with a 77 to take second place in the individual team scoring. Tillamook's team of Mark Lehman and Tyler Crist won medalist honors for the day with a 75.

Seaside's team of Alex Brown-Drew McKirdy tied with teammates Peter DeLong and Chris Olson and Astoria's Justin Tikkala and Jon Natividad for third place at 78. The Gulls' Chad Register and Stuart Graffius teamed up to shoot 82 for seventh place.

"This was a great group of kids to work with this year," said Seaside golf coach Jim Poetsch. "They had a very successful year on the course and are a lot of fun to be around. I'm looking forward to seeing what these guys can do over the next few years."

Schedule changesMonday's Seaside at Rainier baseball game was postponed because of poor field conditions, and will be played at 5 p.m. Wednesday, at Rainier.

Warrenton at Seaside baseball, originally scheduled for Wednesday, will be rescheduled. The Warriors have added nonleague games this week vs. Salem Academy (4 p.m. Thursday at Warrenton) and Regis (11 a.m. Saturday, doubleheader, at Warrenton).

Ilwaco at Ocosta baseball, scheduled for Saturday, will be rescheduled because of a conflicting schedule with Ocosta's prom.

Rainier 2, Tillamook 1TILLAMOOK - A two-run, bases-loaded double by Rachel White helped Rainier score a 2-1 win at Tillamook Monday in Cowapa League softball.

White's third-inning hit gave Rainier the lead after Tillamook had scored a run in the first inning.

Rainier pitcher Megan Pruitt allowed just three hits with four strikeouts and two walks, while the Columbians collected six hits off the Cheesemakers.
