Seaside's Melissa King was named Most Valuable Player for the 2005 Cowapa League volleyball season, as voted on by the league's coaches.

King is a senior setter for the Gulls, who begin play today in the state tournament at Lane Community College in Eugene.

Joining King on the first team were senior teammates Brenna and Jenna Archibald, along with Astoria's Wendi Agalzoff and Sophie DeWitt.

Astoria's Rachel Gascoigne and Alysia Johnson were selected honorable mention, as were Seaside's Jamie May and Ilsa McEwan.
