Two local women distance runners, Leslie Burke of Astoria and Lyn Baker of Ilwaco, Wash., competed in the Rainier-to-Pacific relay July 25-26.

They were part of an all-women's team, named The Snow Leopards, which took second place in the women's sub-master division. The team completed the 155-mile course from Ashford to Ocean Shores, in Washington, in 22 hours, 28 minutes.

"The Rainier-to-Pacific is much like the Hood to Coast with team members each running three legs, throughout the day and night, for a total of about 15 miles each, "Baker said. "It is low key and more fun than the Hood-to-Coast because only about 100 teams compete, making exchanges and access to facilities much less taxing."
