Seaside's Maddi Utti was back and playing basketball in her home state on Saturday.

A fifth-year senior at Long Beach State, Utti played the No. 22-ranked Oregon Ducks at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene in a nonleague women's college basketball game.

Long Beach gave the Ducks a good run, but Oregon held on for a 68-59 victory. Long Beach, now 7-1 overall, snapped a seven-game win streak.

Utti was one of just two players to play the entire 40 minutes. She picked up her first foul just seven seconds into the game and finished with three fouls, but played the entire game, scoring nine points with six rebounds and five assists.

Oregon's Ahlise Hurst scored 19 points, while Maddie Scherr added 12 points, nine assists and seven rebounds in the Duck victory.

Utti went through senior game honors with Fresno State last season, but was granted an extra season because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Utti has started all eight games this season for Long Beach, and is averaging 10.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. She also has 31 assists, 27 steals and eight blocks, all team-highs.
