The only Northwest League team ranked in the latest top 10 coaches poll, the Knappa Loggers backed up the ranking with 54-43 win over Columbia Christian Wednesday night in a boys basketball league opener.

Logan Morrill scored 22 points to lead the No. 2-ranked Loggers, who held the Knights to just three points in the first quarter.

“We came out really aggressive,” said Knappa coach Paul Isom, whose team held a 14-point lead by halftime.

“Columbia made some nice adjustments in the second half and just battled all game,” he said, “but we were able to get a couple baskets by Tanner (Jackson) to put us back in control. Overall it was a nice way to open league play, getting a win against one the best teams in our league.”
