SEASIDE — The Seaside swim teams hosted a double-dual meet with Taft and Gladstone Tuesday afternoon at the Sunset Empire Pool.

The Seaside boys ran their dual meet win streak to 12 in a row, with easy victories over both the Gladiators (106-44) and the Tigers (108-41) to remain undefeated (5-0) in dual meets this season.

Individual event winners included Luke Liljenwall (200-yard freestyle); Brad Rzewnicki (200-yard individual medley and 500-yard freestyle); Sam Beaudoin (50- and 100-yard freestyles); Will Garvin (100-yard backstroke); and Will Kendall (100-yard breaststroke). The Gulls also won all three relay events.

The Seaside girls also swept both meets, besting Gladstone 91-74, and Taft 97-41, improving to 4-1 in dual meets this season.

Individual event winners for the Lady Gulls included Alyssa Harkins (200 IM, 100 breaststroke); and Tennaya Carr (50 freestyle, 100-yard butterfly). Seaside also placed first in the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Gulls swim at Astoria Jan. 22.

Valiants top Astoria

Astoria hosted Valley Catholic for a dual swim meet Tuesday at the Astoria Aquatic Center, where the Valiants swept past the Fishermen for a pair of team victories.

Valley Catholic defeated Astoria 101-64 on the girls’ side, and edged Astoria 94-65 in the boys’ meet.

The Astoria girls had one winner, as Megan Sparks took first in the 100-yard backstroke in one minute, 11.01 seconds.

Teammate Ashley Schacher had a pair of second-place finishes (50- and 100-yard freestyles).

On the boys’ side, Astoria’s Jacob Hulti won the 50 freestyle in 25.80, and Bryce Nurding won the 100 freestyle in 1:00.09.

Hulti had a second-place in the 100-yard butterfly, and Astoria’s Thayne Covert was second in the 500-yard freestyle and the backstroke.
