Trailing 2-1 through five innings, Yamhill-Carlton scored two runs in the top of the sixth for a 3-2 nonleague softball win Wednesday at Astoria.

Mollie Matthews had two of Astoria's four hits, while pitcher Mercedes Walter scattered six hits with four walks.

Two Yamhill pitchers struck out 10 batters with one walk, while the Tigers' Hailee Stephenson had two hits, including a triple.

In Cowapa League action Wednesday, Banks defeated Seaside 10-0 in five innings.
