The Astoria and Banks volleyball teams served up the Cowapa League opener Tuesday night on the Braves' home court, where Banks swept past the Lady Fishermen, 25-22, 25-21, 25-23.

Astoria held leads in all three sets, including the first, when the Fishermen rallied from a 14-10 deficit to grab a 16-15 lead behind a serving run from Landri Mickle.

An ace by Mickle increased the lead to 18-15, but the Braves rallied with a 9-2 run before closing for the win.

A pair of kills by Bailey Kaul gave Astoria an early 5-1 lead in the second set, but sparked by the net play of Madison Walker, Banks came from behind and built an eventual 20-14 lead.

Several ace serves from freshman Maddie Wilken helped give the Lady Fish a 21-20 lead in the third set, but a kill by Alex Saunders capped three straight points for the Braves, who held on for the sweep.

In other Cowapa action Tuesday, Valley Catholic defeated Seaside in three sets, 25-14, 25-10, 25-10.
