The Warrenton Warriors — three-time champions of Coastal Range League volleyball — are the big favorites to make it four straight, as they showed Tuesday night.

Warrenton opened league play with a five-set victory at Rainier, 25-15, 9-25, 25-23, 20-25, 15-8.

The Columbians won the fourth set to force a one-game-to-15 tie-breaker, and the Warriors answered the call, building a quick 4-1 lead. A kill by Avyree Miethe and an ace serve from Emma Smith made it 7-2.

London O'Brien set Jamie Annat for a kill and a 13-7 advantage, and Annat added a second straight attack for a 14-8 lead before the Warriors closed it out.

Now 8-3 overall, Warrenton is rated 10th in the latest Oregon School Activities Association rankings, the highest-ranked team in the Coastal Range League.

The Warriors host Portland Christian for a nonleague match Thursday, before returning to league play next week vs. Taft.
