CATHLAMET, Wash. — Wrestlers from Astoria, Knappa and Warrenton all made the trek to Cathlamet, Wash., over the weekend, to take part in the annual Downriver Challenge, hosted by Wahkiakum High School.

Teams from Washington finished one-through-five in the final standings, with the team championship going to Kelso with 171 points.

Ocosta finished second with 123, followed by Willapa Harbor (109), Wahkiakum (108.5) and Columbia (102).

Astoria took sixth place with 91 points, just ahead of seventh-place Knappa (87), while Warrenton finished 12th out of 14 teams.

Astoria’s Josh Raichl won the title at 220 pounds, with a victory over Knappa’s Nate Truax in the final.

The Loggers’ Iris Rankin placed first at 132 pounds in the girls’ bracket, with teammate Meisha Boettcher taking second at 152.

Third-place finishes came from Knappa’s Jocelyn Burnett (106) and Chris Whitworth (160).
