SEASIDE - More than 400 teams are signed up for the 24th annual Seaside Volleyball Tournament this weekend, and the Chamber of Commerce expects as many as 600 by the weekend.

Teams of two will play from about 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The deadline to sign up for the open division is 8 p.m. Thursday. Other participants can sign up Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Teams of four and six, as well as the coed doubles group, play from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Cash prizes totaling $15,000 will be awarded to winning teams.

The tournament is the second largest of its kind in the world, said Chamber Events Coordinator Wendy Richardson.

It is free to spectators.

Championship tournaments will run between 3 and 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The event is sponsored by Corona Extra and the Chamber.

According to the Chamber Web site, the "beach party starts right after finals."
