GLADSTONE - The Seaside track team appeared to be the big winner Saturday in the Dick Baker Invitational at Gladstone High School.
The Gulls won the boys' meet with 126 points and returned with several individual champions, including Dennis Olstedt, the Outstanding Male Athlete of the Meet.
Gladstone won the girls' team title with 108 points to edge Seaside (105).
Individually, the Seaside girls picked up wins from Ashley Mayfield (1,500 meters, 4:59.18 seconds), Patricia Doyle (3,000 meters, 11:31.19 minutes over teammate Jen Bletscher, 11:48.29) and Jenna Archibald (shot put, 32-11 3/4 feet).
Olstedt topped the boys' field with victories in the 110-meter hurdles (15.23) and 300-meter hurdles (40.64), took second in the triple jump (41-10), and ran a leg on the winning 1,600-meter relay team (3:29.94).
Brian Crago ran the anchor leg, and also won the 100- (11.09) and 200-meters (22.83). Bjorn McCord added second-place points in the shot put (47-0) and discus (143-10).
The girls had second-place finishes from Mel Owens (200 meters, 26.81) and the 1,600 relay team (4:13).
