Seaside 10, Astoria 0GEARHART - The Astoria and Seaside softball teams met Monday to finish the doubleheader they started last week at Norway Field.

And after winning the opener 8-7 in eight innings last Thursday, the Gulls finished off the sweep with a 10-0 win Monday.

Seaside jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning, then added two runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to end the game.

The Gulls collected 13 hits off Astoria pitchers Emily Burrell and Shelly Gregory, while Seaside pitcher Ilsa McEwan allowed just three hits, and only two balls hit to the outfield.

Defensively, the Gulls played errorless ball and turned a pair of 6-4-3 double plays.

Brenna Archibald led the offensive attack with three hits, while Jackie Bermingham, D.J. Koch and Simone Giess had two hits apiece. Bermingham and Giess each had a double for the Gulls, now 9-1 overall and 2-0 in league.
