SEASIDE The Seaside softball team snapped a 29-game losing streak in Cowapa League play last week, with an 18-17 win over Tillamook Friday at Broadway Field.
The two teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader, but one was enough in Fridays rain and wind.
Seaside led 10-0 in the second inning, before the Mooks mounted a rally and took a two-run lead in the top of the seventh, before the Gulls scored three in their last at-bat.
Seasides Shelby Miller scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to end the long losing skid.
It was a hard fought battle in the pouring down rain and sideways wind, said Seaside coach Jen Glasson, following the almost three-hour battle.
Both teams were soaked, frozen and still battling to the very end, she said. Seaside batters were aggressive in the box and smart and aggressive on the bases.
Miller had a triple for the Gulls, as did Whitney Westerholm, who ended up on third following a bunt.
Rosario Kuhl also had a triple and Alex Habecker added a double for the Gulls, while Stephanie Osterlund pitched the entire game. Kuhl and Emma Bergin made key catches in the outfield.
It was Seasides first league win since April 18, 2011, when the Gulls beat Tillamook, 13-2.
