HILLSBORO — Western Mennonite swept the Knappa softball team in a nonleague doubleheader Monday in Hillsboro, 10-0 and 10-0.

Knappa (18-8 overall) closed out the Northwest League schedule Friday, with a 34-2, 15-2 doubleheader sweep at Neah-Kah-Nie.

In the first game, Logger pitcher Kelsey Stanovich allowed six hits with four strikeouts, while the Pirates gave up 17 hits and walked 20.

Maddy Pitts had four hits and five RBIs for Knappa, and Stanovich was 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

In Game 2, Logger pitcher Stacey Aho picked up her first career win, allowing two hits with two strikeouts. Aho and Kacie Cameron each had two hits and three RBIs.

Knappa takes part in the NWL district tournament Thursday at Pacific University.

The Loggers play either Nestucca or Vernonia at 5 p.m. If Knappa wins, the Loggers will play a nonleague doubleheader at Gaston Saturday.

Knappa begins state playoff action May 23.
