YAMHILL — Junior pitcher Molly Smith threw a no-hitter, and Yamhill-Carlton broke open a close game with four runs in the fourth inning and three in the fifth on its way to a 10-0 Cowapa League softball win over Astoria Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the upset of the day in Cowapa League softball came at Tillamook, where the Cheesemakers scored an 8-6 win over Seaside.

The Gulls had scored 42 runs in their two previous games with Tillamook. Elsewhere, Banks posted a 3-0 win over Scappoose.
