SEASIDE - Seaside's missed opportunities led to a big win for Taft at Seaside Thursday night. The Tigers shot their way past the Gulls 69-55 in a nonleague boys basketball game.

Taft shot 54 percent from the floor including nine 3-pointers, while the Gulls struggled hitting just 34 percent on their field goal attempts and 15 of 28 at the line.

The first half was a close battle as the Tigers led 30-26 at the break. Taft hit 5 3-pointers in the third quarter, however, to pull away. Tiger junior Andy Strange capped the period with a shot from beyond the mid-court line as time expired to maintain their momentum and lead throughout the fourth quarter.

Strange, knocked down four 3-pointers and led all scorers with 14 points. Taft's J.T. Gilmore played a key role in the victory with his all-around play by scoring 10 points, pulling down 10 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists.

Jayme Toyas scored 13 points to lead the gulls, while Vito Cerelli coming off a 34 point performance last week against Waldport was held to just four against the Tigers. Seaside is scheduled to play at North Marion tonight.
