Following an excellent performance in a four way duel on Thursday, the Seaside track team did an encore performance on Saturday, with the boys winning the Gladstone Invitational track meet with 126 points and the girls coming in second to Gladstone with 105 points.

Dennis Olstedt, who won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.23 and the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 40.64 was named the Outstanding Male Athlete of the meet. He also was part of the first place 1600 meter relay team, who posted a time of 3:29.94, and took second in the triple jump with a distance of 41’ 10".

Also winning for the Seaside boys was Brian Crago, who won both the 100 meter (11.09) and the 200 meter (22.83) and was also a part of the winning 1600 meter relay.

The Girls were led by runners Ashley Mayfield, who won the 1500 meter event with a time of 4:59.18 and Patrica Doyle, who came in first in the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:31.19. Jenna Archibald won the shot-put field event with a toss of 32’ 11 _".

Other athletes who did well at Gladstone were Mel Owens who came in second in the 200 meter run (26.81), Jen Bletscher who came in second in the 3000 meter run (11.48.29), and Bjorn McCord who won second place in both the discus (143’ 10") and the shot-put (47’).

On Thursday, the Gull boys came in second place in the four way meet, losing out to Scappoose 76-69, and the girls were barely edged out of first place by Astoria 72-68. The Cowapa League Meet will be held at the Seaside track on May 18 and 19.
