NASELLE, Wash. - The Raymond and Naselle volleyball teams opened Pacific 2B League play Thursday night at Naselle with an intense, five-game marathon.

The Comets won the first two games, but the Gulls won the next three to leave with the victory, 15-25, 19-25, 25-17, 25-18, 15-13.

Sylvia Herrold led Naselle with 19 kills, while Emily Green had nine blocks for the Comets, who were missing Ashley Ahlstrom from the lineup.

"It was a great all-around effort from all the girls," said Naselle coach Kim Eaton. "Ashley was out for medical reasons, but everybody stepped in and played a great match. They really worked hard."
