Dont let the youthful roster fool you. The Seaside boys golf team is ready and waiting for the competition, and looking to regain the District championship.
The Gulls had their string of three straight district titles snapped last year by Scappoose, with Seaside placing second behind the Indians.
If the Seagulls are to regain the district championship, theyll have to do it with a young lineup of golfers.
We graduated four seniors last year, and we will have a young team this year, said Seaside coach Jim Poetsch. But we had some kids put in a lot of work in the offseason, so I feel we will actually have a better team than we did last year.

Right now it looks like we will start the season with Andrew Gooch, Garrett Flowers, Sam Hinton and Shane Fritter on varsity, Poetsch said. The fifth spot will go to either Trenten Meyer or Aaron Richardson.
The freshmen all show some promise, and any of them could end up challenging for a varsity spot before the season is over, he said. It is early in the season and we are a little rusty still, but Andrew, Garrett, Sam and Shane have all shown signs of having really good years. If they all meet their potential, we could have a very good season.
