For nearly 100 years, award-winning cheeses have been produced by the Tillamook County Creamery Association.
The Tillamook Cheese Visitor's Center, 4175 U.S. Highway 101 N., is a showcase for a long list of products, as well as an education in the creamery's history and cheesemaking.
Free, self-guided tours feature video presentations, historical displays and interactive kiosks. The upstairs observation areas provide viewing into the cheesemaking room and Tillamook's packaging line. Make sure you stop by the sample counter for a taste of several varieties of cheese.
The Visitor's Center also provides cheese, gift and gourmet shops, the Farmhouse Café for breakfast or lunch and Tillamook ice cream at the dipping counter - in a freshly baked waffle cone.
